Tamron 17-50 VC Review for Nikon DSLR

In this article, I will be doing the Tamron 17-50 VC review. The Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 VC is truly an amazing lens. It compares well with professional lenses from the Nikon (Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8) and Canon (Canon 17-55mm f/2.8 IS) camp.

I initially purchased the lens because I was attracted in its large aperture and light weight. The price is very attractive as well. This lens is available for Nikon and Canon mount. I used the Nikon mount and found it fantastic for my professional shooting needs.

When I used it, I became aware of its other advantages as well. This lens is fast and has a wide aperture, as well as vibration compensation which will allow you to take sharper handheld pictures. The autofocus tested on this lens is accurate and fast. There is a slight noise on the autofocus, but it will not bother most photographers unless you are shooting discreetly.

I was able to track fast moving subjects and obtain sharp pictures even at high shutter speeds. Moreover, this lens is very light and easy to carry around making this an ideal lens for travel photography as well.

The image quality on this lens is absolutely excellent. In fact, as I was surprised to find during my Tamron 17-50mm VC review that the sharpness is better than that of the Nikon equivalent that cost almost twice as much as the Tamron.

The Tamron really beat the Nikon lens both in lab and in field testing. You should be able to find samples everywhere about this statement being true online.

The best is yet to come – this lens costs only half that of the Nikon and Canon lens. I find myself using the Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 VC more often nowadays. However, I’m not selling my Nikon yet. I will still be using my Nikon in extreme weather conditions.

Yes, that is the only catch with this lens though. I still don’t trust it enough to use it in extreme weather conditions. That is why I am still keeping my Nikon lens just for this purpose.

I recommend this lens for those who do not photograph in extreme weather conditions often. For the price, this lens will easily give you the best image quality for your daily photography needs or professional photography needs.

Bottom line is, you cannot go wrong with this lens if you want to take your photography to the next level.
